This booklet series offers an integrated approach to strategic change and leadership through unique perspectives, stories, and insights. In each booklet, I share ideas and concepts that nourish effective leadership, sustainable growth, and productive change. These concepts are not only applicable in our work lives; they also can be applied to our personal lives. They are the bedrock of effective change, effective leadership, and effective living. They are a resource for leaders at all levels of the organization. [BOOKLET ORDER FORM]
In this booklet, we will explore four components of successful organizational change. The first is how to prepare as a leader for change on the personal level. The second is how to build strategic ownership, clarity, and understanding plus the strategic plan. The third is how to roll out the new strategic plan to the entire organization. The fourth is how to transform the strategic plan into a one-year plan.
Developing a New Organizational Culture
In this booklet, we will explore how to prepare for cultural change, build a foundation of trust, develop win/win relationships, and apply feedback. We also will examine critical steps to building teamwork that results in improved communication, creativity, and innovation. Finally, we will delve into different ways to cope with the changes that come with this level of work. In particular, we will explore issues related to paradigm paralysis, and dealing with and overcoming resistance.
In this booklet, you will find the stories I share with others to help them become better leaders in the midst of organizational change. Some are from my own personal journey. Others are stories shared with me. Whatever the source, the lessons learned are powerful. So, let’s begin with the story about my coming to Iowa and being far outside my comfort zone, a normal experience for any leader planning to make change happen in their organization.
